Camping
Hakuna Matata Resort has campsites that cater for individual campers right up to groups of 50+. If you have bigger groups, you can book a number of sites. The scenery is fantastic in each area but we pride ourselves on offering places that are secluded from others, so you get the feeling you have the place to yourself. Each camping area is separated by at least 100 metres of bushland.
Simba:
Imagine experiencing a gorgeous sunset through the trees, then your blistering fire under a sky full of stars. All with your large group of friends sharing bbq food and your favourite drinks!! Simba is perhaps the most picturesque of the camping areas. It is a 60 x 50 metre, mostly flat and grassed area that can cater for up to 40 persons camping in tents, and campervans. It is located on the top of the ridge with a 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside through the trees, and one of the best sunset viewing places you will experience. And during a clear night … wow!! The stars are incredible.
Simba has a picnic table under a covered area, firepits for building a wood fire, a gas BBQ under a separate covered area with a couple of seating options, and a toilet. There is a 150 metre walk to the outdoor cool shower and fresh drinking water tap. Given the size of Simba, we sometimes have a number of different smaller groups camping there if all other spots are unavailable.
Simba costs $50 per person per night.
Rafiki:
Bush party time!!! Rafiki is the party place of Hakuna Matata resort. This area is a 50 x 50 metre, level, grassed area scattered with high shade trees that can cater for up to 40 persons camping in their own tents.
Given its location and stage-like covered deck, it is ideal for the ‘entertainment’ of a larger party, with groups often decorating the area with lights and themed decorations, playing music through their own speakers and dancing the night away.
Rafiki’s deck has lights, a gas bbq, bathtub to put your ice and drinks in, and seating and tables for eating. It also has a wood-fired pizza oven, fire pits and a toilet. There is a cool shower and potable water about 150 metres walk along the ridge.
Given the size of Rafiki, we sometimes have a number of different smaller groups camping there if all other spots are unavailable.
Rafiki costs $50 per person per night.
Pumbaa:
Located near the back of the property at the ‘log walk’ of the assault course, Pumbaa is the camping spot with everything. It is a flat grassed area that can cater for up to 40 persons in their own tents. Motorhomes and campervans also use this area to stay. Being at the back of the property it is very isolated from other campsites.
Pumbaa has a covered raised deck with outdoor lounge, lights and gas bbq, a separate covered area with wood-fired pizza oven and table and bench seats, water tank with potable water, and toilet. There is a 120 metre walk to the outdoor cool shower and fresh drinking water tap. Pumbaa is 2wd accessible.
Pumbaa costs $50 per person per night.
Zazu:
Zazu is a slightly sloped, 70 x 40 metre, grassed space that is generally used when other camping areas are full. It can cater easily for 35 campers in their own tents.
Zazu has a firepit, water tank with potable water, and a cool, outdoor shower. Campers can use the toilet at Simba 120 metres away. Being an open area the stars are amazing in clear night skies.
Zazu costs $50 per person per night.
Scar / Second Dam /Main Dam / Lookout:
During extremely busy times there are a number of other areas on the property that can cater to 1-3 tents. These areas may have limited amenities but will always be a short walk to whatever is required. Kieran will tell you more about these spaces if required.
