Hakuna Matata Resort has 2 glamping options: Mufasa, the safari tent; and Kiara, the cosy cabin. Both are perfect destinations to just get away from it all and relax, away from all the hustle and bustle of your ‘other’ life. They both offer all the ingredients you need for a luxurious yet affordable stay in the beauty of the bush.

Mufasa:

The safari tent area is a fully functional area for you to enjoy your stay and relax the whole time. It is located in the far back corner of the property about 3 kms from the property entrance, up a hill, down a valley and up another hill, so you are assured of quiet and tranquility for the duration of the stay. It is accessible via a 4wd vehicle only (in very dry weather some 2wd vehicles are ok). You can either park your 2wd vehicle about 200 metres away and walk the remainder or we can help you take your gear there in our vehicle.

The safari tent has a king-size bed on a wooden floor with doona and plenty of blankets, solar lighting, cupboard space with extra blankets and a small gas fridge for your food storage. About 30 metres away is a bush kitchenette with gas BBQ, crockery and cutlery, pizza oven, and firepit, with the toilet and hot shower a further 30 metres away. For fun and games, there is a seated 3 foot chess board, quoits, other board games, dartboard and some sporting activities.

Firewood is supplied for the pizza oven and for a small fire. Further wood can be picked up or cut off the property (bring a chainsaw if you wish), or we offer pre-cut bags of firewood for sale. Please be aware that you are in the middle of the bush and the area has low lighting for ambience so you may wish to bring a torch or headlamp if you wish to go for walks at night. Also, please bring your own towels. For an extra $30, guests can use the outdoor bath. Also, please bring your own towels.

The safari tent is located about 50 metres from a grassed area (Nala), which you can also book as part of a larger group.

Kiara:

This cosy cabin is a new addition to Hakuna Matata Resort. It relies on a fresh and modern approach while letting nature stay as the main focus. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy some quality private time. It gives true meaning to being out in the middle of the bush, with just the noise of birds, wildlife and the breeze of the wind.

Kiara is located on the main track half way up the first hill of the property about 400 metres from the entrance, but is positioned to still give a feeling of seclusion. It is a small studio-sized insulated room with glass sliding doors opening on to a deck that looks out over the treetops. It has all the essentials for your stay, including a queen-size bed with ample blankets and pillows, writing desk, small gas BBQ, outdoor chairs and table, cutlery and crockery, outdoor hammock, and firepit. Lighting is provided by rechargeable and battery-charged lamps and there is a small fan for use in the hotter months. Behind the cabin is a composting toilet and a water tank with fresh drinking water. In front of the deck is an outoodr cold shower. There is no wifi provided but some places on the property have mobile reception for both phone and internet.
